The Fourth of July is a special day when we all come together to celebrate the birth of our nation. One of the best celebrations in our area is the Tacoma Freedom Fair at the Tacoma Ruston Way Waterfront, which is the third largest Independence Day event in the U.S., with over 80,000 people attending each year.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Freedom Fair, which starts at 10 a.m. on July 4 and ends around 10:30 p.m. when the fireworks show is complete. There are four pedestrian entrance points to the festival at McCarver Street, North Alder Way, North Ferdinand Street, and Ruston Way. You can also choose the Park & Ride option, which includes free parking and bus transportation from Tacoma Community College and the Tacoma Dome Station. The buses run every 30 minutes from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. with transportation resuming after the fireworks show.
You’ll be able to enjoy a ton of entertainment during the Freedom Fair, including live music from local bands and groups, a beer garden with a DJ, a congo drum circle from Congo Productions, and a vintage car show. Of course, there will be a thrilling air show featuring an F-16 Fighting Falcon and an F-16 Viper, along with a variety of other military aircraft.
However, the best part about the Freedom Fair is that active duty military and veterans receive special recognition during the event. Here at Lakewood Ford, we truly appreciate the service of all military personnel and we’re so excited to be able to enjoy this local festival. We hope to see you all at the Tacoma Freedom Fair!
